This time on the @Junkendriven channel I'm looking at the outer sills of my 1997 BMW Z3 track car. The Z3 is unusual in that they have outer lower sills that are bolt-on! Which means they are non-structural and often fail an MOT due to corrosion if the MOT (VOSA) tester isn't aware that these are non structural items. The actual structure is underneath this cosmetic sill and forms part of the main chassis on the Z3. I guess this is to mask that it's really a 3-series BMW Z3 underneath. In this video I'm checking the outer sills as they're badly rusted and go about taking them off to inspect the actual chassis of my 1997 Z3. I also look into replacements and show where you can get at all the bolts to unbolt the outer sills on my car.
Will the exhaust repairs ever end on my 1994 project Volvo 480 2litre ES? I'm still battling with the exhaust trying to get it to seal. I fit the new front downpipe, new catalytic converter and try to get it all to fit and then seal up with the changes I made to the rear section of the exhaust, which doesn't go to plan as usual! Let me know what you think I should do next to solve my exhaust issues on my Volvo 480?
How difficult is replacing a windscreen on a car? In this particular instance it's my Volvo 480 1994 project car that has had a cracked windscreen for some time. I wanted to replace this myself, so the first job is to remove the old windscreen. In this video I try using a kit to slice and cut the old windscreen bonding adhesive and show you the progress. In the next video I'll show you another way and see if it makes better progress. This time we visited Beamish museum in the North East of England whilst the NECPWA classic car rally. There was an amazing turn out of cars today, so many more than I'd expected. The NECPWA (North of England Classic & Pre-War Automobiles Motoring Club) had this as their last public event of the year on the 29th September 2024 and it was a good show. Lots of interesting cars, Porsche, Lotus, BMW, Mini, Vauxhall, Austins and more, so here is a video I took of just some of the cars I found. A couple of great BMW Z3's were found too so I stopped for a chat! Unfortunately there weren't any Volvo 480's to be seen. Location: Beamish Museum, Beamish, County Durham, DH9 0RG
This time we're back with our 2010 Vauxhall (Opel in Europe) Corsa with yet another coolant issue. This time it's the coolant flange that sits at the right hand side of the engine (towards the battery). Many people think this holds the thermostat (it does in some models) but in this 1.2 Petrol it just contains a second coolant temperature sensor and acts as a manifold for the water channels from the engine and to the heater matrix, the radiator and to the expansion bottle. In this video I'm explaining the replacement process, and also the issue with the replacement of the top hose clip that goes back to the expansion bottle. The two parts I replaced were the top coolant tank hose: 13249353 The coolant flange itself which has part numbers: 1338022 1338487 25192985 55562048
We visit Chester-Le-Street and go to the Steam and Vintage Fair 2024 which has loads to see and do, classic cars to look at, steam engines of all sorts, vintage lorries, tractors and even lawnmower racing! This year it was on 21st September and 22nd 2024 due to bad weather earlier in the year. Some great cars there, Cortina, Escort, Daimler, VW, all sorts. Just no BMW Z3 or Volvo 480! Another video trying to get further on my project Volvo 480 - This time I think I've solved the water leak problem at the rear lights and boot seal. The battery is causing me problems, so I need to solve that. Also finally another go at the exhaust system that still has a leak and doesn't line up properly, so taking a look and working out what I should do with it. Let me know what you think on my Volvo 480 project car and how I can solve any of these problems!
This video is a quick look around the Lotus Excel 1989 car that you saw in a previous BMW Z3 video. The car is a 1989 (UK H registration) Lotus Excel which delivers around 180HP as it has the RED engine manifold and so has the uprated engine, so this is the SE edition.
This is the latest video on my 1994 Project Volvo 480 2litre ES that I've been working on for years restoring it! I've done a few changes to the carport and so the Volvo 480 is exposed to the rain, which means it's now leaking water into the boot! Finding where the leak is from, the boot seal itself and the rear lights. Volvo 480 rear lights are very rare, very brittle and prone to leaking! So in this video I find where the leak is coming from and work to resolve it, first by removing the rear lights. This video mainly focuses on the rear light removal and finding why it's a VERY bad idea to glue or silicone in the rear lights to try and stop leaks. I've bought a new boot seal and also rear light seals from Jeff on the Volvo480 forums. Next video - refurbishment and refitting of the rear lights and testing for leaks!
